Mean Kinetic Temperature (MKT) Formula (USP <1159>):
$$MKT = \frac{\Delta E_a / R}{-\ln \left( \frac{\sum e^{-\Delta E_a / R T_i}}{n} \right)}$$ Where $\Delta E_a = 83.144\text{ kJ/mol}$ (activation energy for pharmaceutical degradation), $R = 8.3144 \times 10^{-3}\text{ kJ/mol/K}$ (universal gas constant), and $T_i$ is temperature in Kelvin. MKT is a single simplified temperature that expresses the cumulative thermal stress experienced by a product during storage or transit.
